Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, has online joined the "Situation in Ukraine" special meeting, organised by the 12+ Geopolitical Group in the frameworks of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union that takes place in Nusa Dua, Indonesia.

During the event, he addressed MPs from all over the world to act more decisively to deter russian aggression. Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the international community for their help, solidarity with Ukraine and support. At the same time, according to the head of the Parliament of Ukraine, the fact that it's the fourth week already that the war has been going on, shows that the measures taken are not enough.

"We call on you to mobilise the potential of members of your national parliaments to stop russia, put an end to the death toll and destruction, and end the war crimes of the russian Nazi invaders against Ukrainian citizens, women and children," Ruslan Stefanchuk urged.

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada cited the example of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, which this week decided to close the skies over Ukraine.
"You can also call on your governments to create a no-fly zone over Ukraine. You must do this for the sake of millions of people in Ukraine, for the sake of European and world security, " Ruslan Stefanchuk asked deputies from around the world.

The Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine expressed hope that the Inter-Parliamentary Union would voice its principled position against russia's gross violation of international law.
