"Since the first day after the inauguration, it has become obvious that the Constitution does not exist for the President Yushchenko. This is the way we live: the law is violated mostly in the President´s office (and by the Head of State himself). The Government also infringes upon the laws and the Constitution quite often. Unfortunately, even the Parliament is no exception", - stated Oleksandr Lavrynovych, First Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in an exclusive interview to the newspaper "Den´".
Answering the questions concerning methods to make the politicians and officials respect and implement effective Constitutional regulations, O.Lavrynovych stated: "If one compares 1994 with 2004, 2005, 2009, one can make a conclusion that the country is being consistently destructed". However, he warned that "the total illegality that is currently cultivated and supported at the highest level can result either in the "self-government of the territories" as it was in the beginning of XX century (when the local chieftains exercise the power in accordance with their rules and concepts), or in the total incapacity of the country".
