The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster recommends that the Parliament adopts the Bill on Amendments to the Water Code of Ukraine at the Second Reading and in its Entirety

The Bill (Reg. No.2634) introduces amendments to the Water Code appertaining to the right of ownership and lease of water resources, duty for the special water use, ecological standards of quality of water of water objects in general and special use, marking of coastal protection strips, etc.   

 

The Committee received 78 amendments and motions, while drafting the Bill for the Second Reading, and the majority of them were taken into account.

 

The Bill extends the list of water objects of local importance, regulates the issue concerning re-use of water received from other water consumer.

 

Pursuant to the Bill, water objects shall be leased only if the passport of the water object, operation rules, and ratified project of the coastal protection strip are available. It is also envisaged that the leaseholders shall arrange specially allocated places for recreation and rest.
