"The Crimea Platform should be created in every Parliament of Europe and the world that recognized the Independence of Ukraine," Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk

The value and weight of the All-Ukrainian referendum on December 1, 1991 is that thanks to the people’s will, Ukraine has emerged on the international arena as a full-fledged subject of international law.
"This is the wisdom, responsibility and state thinking of the first convocation of the Verkhovna Rada - to go to a referendum, to gain popular support to strengthen the legitimacy of Ukrainian independence," said Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk at the Kyiv Security Forum.
She recalled that on December 2, 1991, Ukraine's independence was officially recognized by Poland and Canada, and later by Hungary, Lithuania and Latvia. Russia was among the first countries which recognized our independence: December 5, 1991.
"We now see how much Russia's word and commitment really cost, when the Russian-Ukrainian war for our Independence and Territorial Integrity has been going on for eight years. This should also be said aloud on all international platforms and the Crimea Platform, in particular, which should be created in every Parliament of Europe and the world," Olena Kondratiuk stressed.
The Vice Speaker added that the issue of Russian aggression and occupation of Ukraine should not disappear from the agenda of all Parliaments, which after the All-Ukrainian referendum in 1991, voted for the official recognition of Ukraine's independence within the then existing borders.
