Mykola Tomenko: during the Hustings Mass Media would be working without the Authority Pressure and Control Monitoring
Mykola Tomenko, the Vice-Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine positively evaluates the fact of adoption by the Parliament the Resolution "On Provision of Unimpeded Activity of the Mass Media during the Hustings in Year 2009" (Reg. num. 4363).
The Resolution was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by the grpup of the people´s Deputies among whom are Mykola Tomenko, Olena Kondratiuk, Mykola Bagraev, Oleksandr Abdulin, Olena Bondarenko and Yuriy Stets in April of the current year.
Mykola Tomenko during his speech emphasized that the aim of the Resolution is "to avoid situation when any power institution during the hustings acts in the interest of some candidate and puts the pressure against mass media into effect. We are convinced that during the hustings all the mass media should have equal rights".
According to the Resolution it is recommended that the Cabinet of Ministers should take measures in order to stop the monitoring control by the corresponding services of the executive power bodies and state institutions for the mass media during the hustings in year 2009.
It is also recommended that the State Tax Inspectorate, National Council of Ukraine on the Matters of Television and Radio Broadcasting should cancel the schedules of inspections of television organizations during the Period of hustings before the Elections of the President of Ukraine.
The Resolution comes into force with the beginning of the hustings before the President´s Elections.
For the adoption fo the Resolution has voted the Constitutional Majority of the People´s Deputies 361.
