AFTERNOON PLENARY MEETING OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WAS HELD ON TUESDAY, 9 JUNE

 

At the beginning of the plenary meeting, the People´s Deputies stood in memory of the miners who died in the accident at Skochynsky coal mine on 8 June.

 

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, informed the People´s Deputies about the results of work of The Verkhovna Rada at the plenary meetings of 2-5 June.  

 

The Parliament members included the Bill "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts" (re Simplified Procedure of scrutinizing the Issues regarding Assistance to the Families of the Perished) to the agenda and scrutinized it.

 

The Bill was adopted as a basis (248 votes).

 

Then the Parliament members had to scrutinize two Bills appertaining to the protection of citizens´ labour rights.  People´s Deputy Oleksandr Feldman, author of the first Bill on Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (re Withdrawal of Moratorium on the Receipt of Wages during the Executive Proceedings instituted against the Enterprises of Fuel and Energy Complex) withdrew the Bill to the favour of another Bill submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers.

 

The governmental Bill was adopted as a basis.

 

Anatoliy Murakhovsky, First Deputy Chairman of The State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, presented the Bill on Protection of Professional Activity of Journalists.

 

The People´s Deputies upheld the Bill, though expressed a number of remarks appertaining to the exclusion of certain important regulations from the Bill, which restricts the professional rights of the journalists.    

 

The Bill was forwarded for further drafting (368 votes).

 

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the following Bills as a basis: on Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine regarding Establishment of the Procedure and Period of Storage of Certain Types of Documents; on Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine regarding Issue of Production Permits; on Amendments and Supplements to the Criminal Code of Ukraine" (re Protection of Public Morality); on Amendments to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements regarding Establishment of Responsibility for the Violation of the Grain Declaration Procedure".

 

The following Bills were adopted as a basis and in entirety: on Amendments to the Forestry Code of Ukraine in view of Adoption of the Law "On Licensing System in the Economic Activity Sector"; on Supplements to Clause 1 of the Law "On Patents for certain Types of Entrepreneurship" (re Scope of the Law).

 

The People´s Deputies scrutinized two Bills on the principles of domestic and foreign policy. Petro Symonenko and Valeriy Konovaliuk, the authors of the Bills, presented the legislative acts.

 

Both Bills were rejected.

 

The Verkhovna Rada adopted the following Bills as a basis: on Amendments to Clause 41 of the Economic Procedural Code of Ukraine (re Appointment of Forensic Inquiry); on the State Registration of Legal Entities and Individual Entrepreneurs" (re Prevention of Participation of State Registration Agencies in Raider Operations).

 

The Bill on Amendments to certain Laws of Ukraine (re Prevention of Execution of Forged Court Decisions) was rejected.  

 

Then the afternoon plenary meeting was closed.

 

The next plenary meeting will be held on Wednesday, 10 June.
