"The Verkhovna Rada next week may convene an extraordinary plenary session," Dmytro Razumkov

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may convene an extraordinary plenary session next week to consider draft resolutions blocking the signing of a number of laws by the Speaker of the Parliament. This was announced by Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov.
"We are waiting for a letter on Monday with a request to hold an extraordinary sitting of the Verkhovna Rada, which will consider the Resolutions received by the Parliament, blocking my signing of laws. And I will not be able to send them to the President for signature," he said.
According to Dmytro Razumkov, draft Resolutions on repealing the decisions of the Verkhovna Rada on the adoption of laws regarding judicial reform and transformation of the state concern "Ukroboronprom" need to be considered.
"The extraordinary plenary session will be devoted to issues related to the rejection or support of these documents," said the Speaker of the Parliament.
Summing up, Dmytro Razumkov noted that during the fifth session, the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation considered almost 700 draft laws, of which 170 were adopted in general and 110 - as a basis.
"We have done well, despite COVID-19," he said, noting that decisions had been made to combat COVID-19, reform the judiciary and decentralize, protect Ukraine's territorial integrity and support business.
The Speaker of the Parliament also reminded that the fifth session of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation officially ends on July 23.
