The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada signed the Law of Ukraine “On Amending the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Status and Social Protection of Citizens Affected by the Chornobyl Disaster’ to Increase the Level of Pension Support for Certain Categories of Persons”

The Law “On Amending the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Status and Social Protection of Citizens Affected by the Chornobyl Disaster’ to Increase the Level of Pension Support for Certain Categories of Persons” specifies the conditions for the calculation of pensions for participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, other nuclear accidents for which a causal relationship is established between such accident and a person’s disability.
The Law proposes that an additional pension be paid for injury to health and a monthly compensation to families for the loss of their breadwinner as a result of the Chornobyl disaster, regardless of income. The payment may not exceed 10 times the minimum subsistence level established for persons who have lost their ability to work. The payments will be made by the territorial branches of the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
