First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk said that this plenary week the Parliament of Ukraine will consider the draft law "On Amendments to the Land Code of Ukraine and other legislative acts to improve the system of management and deregulation in the field of land relations"(No. 2194) and the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts Concerning the Sale of State and Communal Land Plots or Rights to Them (Leases, Superficies, Emphyteusis) through Electronic Auctions" (No. 2195).
"Most likely, at the plenary sessions this week, we will vote for amendments to the bills No. 2194 and No. 2195. I would like us to find a compromise on these bills and further consider the issues in accordance with the Plan of Legislative Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for 2021," Ruslan Stefanchuk said.
According to him, the Parliament of Ukraine must continue its work. At the same time, he stressed the importance of compliance with quarantine restrictions and appealed to the MPs to adhere to the mask regime in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Ruslan Stefanchuk reminded of his proposal to introduce online voting in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also reminded that last week the President of Ukraine signed the Law of Ukraine "On all-Ukrainian referendum."
"This is one of the most important tasks related to the restoration of direct democracy in Ukraine. I would like to draw the attention of certain political forces that did not vote for the law, but were the first to decide to initiate a series of referendums. A referendum is not a daily pastime. This is an important mechanism for resolving state issues, such as Ukraine's accession to the EU and NATO, and so on. In addition, it is financially expensive. Neither the President of Ukraine nor political forces have the right to hold these referendums. The right to decide on the subject and hold referendums belongs to the people," Ruslan Stefanchuk stressed.
He informed about the completion of the public discussion of the bill on local referendum, which lasted three weeks.
"I am grateful to all concerned citizens for their active participation in the discussion of this bill. I really hope that in the near future it will be registered in the Parliament of Ukraine," the politician said.
