The issue of verification and monitoring of state benefits was discussed during the meeting of the Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans' Rights. The sitting was attended by MPs, representatives of central executive bodies, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, the Pension Fund, social dialogue parties, public organizations, scientific institutions, and the media.

First Deputy Minister of Finance Denys Ulyutin reminded that the purpose of verification of state payments (pensions, benefits, subsidies, scholarships, etc.) is to increase the targeting of state payments and ensure the efficient use of budget funds. According to the Ministry, the total amount of state payments received in 2020 for verification from the bodies that make state payments amounted to almost 460 billion hryvnias.

Denys Ulyutin said that the Ministry is currently considering more than two million requests to verify the accuracy of information for the appointment, accrual/ implementation of state payments.

Mykhailo Tsymbalyuk, First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee, noted that in the process of verification of state payments, special attention should be paid to the issue of protection of personal data of citizens.

Summing up, Chairperson of the Committee Halyna Tretyakova invited the participants of the meeting to submit their proposals on improving the national verification process, which will be followed by general recommendations of the Committee for government bodies.

Reference: On December 3, 2019, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine “On Verification and Monitoring of State Payments” No. 324-IX.

According to this Law, for the first time in Ukraine was introduced the procedure of verification of state payments - pensions, benefits, subsidies, scholarships, other payments made at the expense of state, local budgets, funds of compulsory state social and pension insurance.
