The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is ready for active cooperation with local authorities, in particular, in the format of the Advisory Council on Local Self-Government under the Parliament. This was stated by the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, speaking at a session of the Vinnytsia Regional Council during the working trip to Vinnytsia region.
"We are ready for constructive cooperation. Last year,
the work of the Advisory Council under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was
resumed. It includes representatives of all levels of local government. We are
ready to work together to achieve results," he said.
The Speaker of the Parliament noted that the decentralization reform is underway. He noted, in particular, that local authorities had been given additional powers as part of the reform. "But authority brings responsibility in parallel. I hope everyone understands the responsibility that rests on them," he said.
According to Dmytro Razumkov, the central and local authorities should unite their efforts to overcome the challenges facing the state today, the key ones being the fight against the Coronavirus, strengthening the economy and resolving the tariff issue.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that COVID-19 had hit not only the health of citizens, but also the economy.
"This year, both legislatively and at the local level,
every effort will be made to 'revive' the economy. At the same time, we must
launch those economic processes that will be able to improve the well-being of
citizens living both in Vinnytsia region and in other regions,” Dmytro Razumkov
explained.
In the context of energy tariffs, he noted that society was not prepared for their sharp rise, and decisions were made promptly to resolve this issue. "But it was an intermediate stage. And it will be necessary to look for a comprehensive solution, and therefore your help will be needed," the Speaker stressed.
"I hope there is constructive cooperation with representatives of the deputy's corps of the Verkhovna Rada. Because you are the first to face the problems. You are the first to whom people turn with their problems," said Dmytro Razumkov.
