Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov discussed with Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen and Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Tomasz Grodzki the agenda of the forthcoming Interparliamentary Assembly in July 2021 in Warsaw.
"We highly appreciated Warsaw and Vilnius' continued support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," stated the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament at the beginning of the meeting.
Dmytro Razumkov expressed hope that at the Assembly meeting in Warsaw the parties would not only exchange views and assessments of the security situation in the region, but also agree on further format of effective cooperation between the parliaments of the three countries. Issues that may be on the agenda include overcoming the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, national heritage issues, and stability and security in the region.
In the context of strengthening security, in particular energy, the Speakers also discussed Nord Stream-2.
"Ukraine has felt many times: this is not a business, this is not an economy, but, first of all, this is politics and the possibility of geopolitical pressure on countries," the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament stressed.
"Today we are building a common space of democracy, security and prosperity. We are helped in this by mutual trust, common interests and values ??that we share. We are able to implement high ideas as much as possible and implement concrete plans, which at one time led to the creation of a tripartite Assembly," said Dmitry Razumkov.
The Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also thanked Lithuania and Poland for their assistance in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
