Mykola Tomenko: Ukrainian Culture and Language should be promoted in Crimea by Popularization, not by Commands

Today, on 19 May, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

M.Tomenko met the students of the Ukrainian language and literature department of Tavria Vernadsky National University and teachers of Ukrainian language and literature of the city of Simferopol. M.Tomenko stated that "the State should drastically change its approach toward promotion, teaching and popularization of Ukrainian culture in the whole Ukraine, especially in Crimea. "It is impossible to make one love Ukrainian language and culture in accordance with resolutions of authorities or on certain specific occasion. It is necessary to convince people in the uniqueness and beauty of Ukrainian culture and language, thus popularizing this culture", - he stressed.

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine presented the residents of Crimea with the Cds "Live Voices. Classical Ukrainian Literature", "Main Songs and Melodies of Ukraine" and with his new book "Ukrainian Romanticist Mykola Hohol".
