The government must promptly provide free vaccination for all citizens of Ukraine who are at the risk-group. This was emphasized by Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk during the Hour of Questions to the Government. “Coronavirus vaccination cannot be a political issue. Because, in fact, vaccination is about professionalism, responsibility and leadership. In developed countries with responsible leadership, vaccination is fast, massive and free of charge,” she said.
Olena Kondratiuk drew attention to the statements of German Chancellor Angela Merkel that by the end of the summer 100% of the population of this country will have access to vaccination. At the same time, Israel intends to vaccinate all citizens over the age of 16 by the end of March.
She also noted that according to scientists, after the first dose, the Pfizer vaccine provides up to 90% protection against COVID-19.
According to Olena Kondratiuk, 20-21 million citizens who are at the risk-group in need of coronavirus vaccination in Ukraine. The Vice Speaker asked the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov to inform MPs and the public about the timeframe for these citizens to get access to the vaccine.
In response to the request of the Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratiuk M. Stepanov said that the state will provide free access to vaccines from COVID-19 for 21 million Ukrainians in the fall of 2021.
