There
are almost 40 draft laws in the spheres of European and Euro-Atlantic
integration that need to be considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
as a matter of priority. This was announced by the First Deputy
Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk during
the sitting of the Commission on Coordination of the Implementation of
the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
According
to him, 26 European integration bills are ready for the first reading, 3
bills are for the second reading, 8 need to be finalized and 1 has been
withdrawn from consideration.
“The
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine intends to consider in the first reading the
following bills: ‘On Railway Transport of Ukraine’, ‘On Amendments to
Certain Laws of Ukraine Concerning Their Alignment with the Legislation
of the European Union in the Field of Transportation of Dangerous
Goods’, ‘On prevention, reduction and control of industrial pollution’
and a number of others. Bills are ready for the second reading: ‘On
Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (Regarding
Harmonization of Legislation in the Sphere of Prevention and
Counteraction of Discrimination with the Law of the European Union)’ ‘On
Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine (Regarding the
Implementation of the Provisions of Certain International Agreements and
EU Directives in the Field of Fauna and Flora Protection)’ and ‘On
Veterinary Medicine and Animal Welfare’,” said Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The
First Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine also reminded that the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, since September 2020, has adopted a number of
bills important for European integration: ‘On electronic
communications’ ‘On inland water transport’, ‘On the safety and quality
of donor blood and blood components’, ‘On intelligence’ and ‘On the
Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine’. The deputies of Ukraine also
supported the draft law ‘On Ratification of the Memorandum of
Understanding between Ukraine as a Borrower and the European Union as a
Lender and the Loan Agreement between Ukraine as a Borrower and the
National Bank of Ukraine as an Agent of the Borrower and the European
Union as a Lender (On granting Ukraine macro-financial assistance of the
European Union amounting to 1 billion 200 million euro)’,” stressed the
First Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In
addition, as the politician noted, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
supported the Legislative Work Plan of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for
2021 developed jointly with the Office of the President of Ukraine and
the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. It provides for the consideration
of a number of bills in the field of European and Euro-Atlantic
integration.
Ruslan
Stefanchuk reminded of the initiative in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
to define the so-called ‘days of the European Union’.
“Based
on this plan, we must form a weekly plan for consideration by the
Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of European integration bills. Voting for
these bills will take place in the so-called ‘days of the European
Union’, which we have proposed to introduce in the Parliament of
Ukraine,” the politician stressed.
