ON WEDNESDAY, THE 20TH OF MAY PLENARY MEETINGS OF THE FOURTH SESSION OF THE VERKHOVNA RADA OF UKRAINE OF THE SIXTH CONVOCATION WERE HELD
V. Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the beginning of the meeting has informed on the results of the parliamentary work during the meeting on the 19 of May.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted Law on Ukraine's Accession to the European concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways and ratified the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Korea on trade navigation and the Protocol to the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Korea on Trade Navigation.
Next Parliamentarians scrutinized the Bills in the first reading.
The Bill "On Preliminary Training of the Members pf Election Committee" was presented by Yu. Klyuchkovskiy, the People´s Deputy of Ukraine. He pointed out the attention that nowadays the problem of the professionalism of the members of election committees becomes sharper. he Bill defines the rules of conducting preliminary training of individuals willing to work in the district, territorial election committees during the presidential elections, elections of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine, local elections, national and local referenda. The training should secure efficient fulfillment of duties by the members of relevant election committees.
Sergiy Podgornyi, the Chairman of the Subcommittee of the Committee on State Building and Local Self-Governing informed on the decision of the Committee to uphold the Bill.
During the discussion the People´s Deputies have also supported the Bill. It was adopted as a Basis by 227 votes.
The People´s Deputies have scrutinized two Bills concerning the amendments to the Law "On Election of People's Deputies of The Verkhovna Rada of the Crimean Autonomous Republic, Local Councils and Village, Settlement and City Mayors" regarding the election of mayors by the majority system of absolute majority. The People´s Deputies, the authors of the Bills Kyrylo Kulykov and Mykola Katerynchuk. The Bills introduce a number of amendments to the effective Law, pursuant to which, mayors of the cities with the population exceeding 75 thousand persons shall be elected by the majority system of absolute majority.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the Bill recommended by the pro\file committee y 253 votes.
The Bill for the Law "On Political Parties in Ukraine"(concerning the keeping in order the registration and control for the activity) was rejected.
The People´s Deputies have support the next Bill of the agenda - Bill on amendments to the Law "On Public Associations" regarding the names of public associations. The author of the Bill, People´s Deputy Volodymyr Landik declared that the public society in Ukraine is actively forming nowadays. Pursuant to the Bill a name of a public association shall not contain word-combinations similar to the names of authority or local self-government bodies, their structural units, or such that create an impression of their affinity to the said bodies.
