During the fifth session, the Verkhovna Rada of the ninth convocation should focus on four main issues: tariff policy, industrial development, judicial reform and the creation of appropriate conditions for every citizen. This was stated by Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov during the grand opening of the session.
“The pandemic covered the whole of Ukraine and the whole world. This disease affects not only people's health, but also the economy, relations between states and many other aspects of our normal lives. I am sure that 2021 will not be easy for us, but only together, uniting around basic and correct things, we will be able to overcome all challenges,” the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada said.
According to him, MPs during the 5th session should focus on resolving the so-called tariff crisis. “Unfortunately, this problem has spread throughout the country. And our joint, effective work of both the Ukrainian Parliament and other institutions has allowed us to stabilize the situation. We have not solved this problem, so we must do everything in our power to protect the least protected sections of the population,” said Dmytro Razumkov. Another important aspect, in the opinion of the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament, are issues related to the development of industry, because it will attract additional domestic and foreign investments. This will increase the number of jobs and tax revenues. This, in turn, will provide more opportunities to protect the most vulnerable. In addition, during the 5th session, MPs should make efforts to ensure uniform access to courts for all citizens of Ukraine.
“Regardless of whether you are a deputy, a minister or just a citizen in a small town or village of our state, we must form common rules and approaches to defending our rights in court,” said Dmytro Razumkov.
The Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada also called on the MPs to focus on creating proper living conditions for the citizens of our state. “There is no specific committee or MP on whom it will depend. This is possible only through joint work, because every committee, MP has initiatives that can help people,” he stressed and added that another important innovation is the ‘priority and consensus’ procedure.
“We invented and launched it with you during the appearance of the coronavirus in our country. Everyone then understood that thanks to quick and effective actions we will be able to help the state and help the people,” Dmytro Razumkov said, adding that the procedure created the Coronavirus Fund and provided an effective mechanism for the Government to provide compensation in connection with the increase in tariffs for citizens. “I would like to remind myself and you – the MP of Ukraine represents the interests not only of those voters who voted for him, he represents the interests of the entire people of Ukraine. And only by uniting will we be able to prove once again that the Verkhovna Rada is able to overcome the challenges and problems that arise in society and be the basic force that always stands on the side of our people,” Dmytro Razumkov concluded.
