Mykola Tomenko: On 9 May, one should give Help to the War Veterans, not concern oneself with Political Promotion

On the eve of the Victory Day, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, drew attention to another attempts "to politicize the holiday and make it party-bound".  "It resulted in the demand of certain parties willing to find themselves in a big politics to abolish the holiday; moreover, their political opponents suppose that all war veterans were members of their parties", - stated M.Tomenko.

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that "officials of all levels: from the President till the heads of district State administrations decided to remind of "dear themselves" in a familiar way by means of "social" advertisement with greetings".

M.Tomenko drew attention to a certain peculiarity of this year´s "greetings social" advertisement. Thus, in Kyiv "almost no outdoor advertisements depict front-line soldiers, but local officials instead".

The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recommends that the politicians and officials "remember and take care of veterans, not their parties or political image, at least during these days".
