Memory rings with a painful bell…
There is an unhealed and very painful wound in our national history – the genocide against a prosperous nation. This is a crime against every Ukrainian. This is the Calvary of People's Suffering.
The Holodomor of 1932–1933, according to various estimates, killed between 4.5 and up to 10 million people, and tens of millions were starved. Witnesses who managed to survive were stripped of their memory, they were doomed to amnesia and silence.
However, the goal of the totalitarian Stalinist regime, tentatively called ‘death and oblivion of Ukrainians,’ has not been achieved. The voices of truth were heard all the time with varying power and, in the end, erupted in audible unison.
We must preserve every voice of the starved, tortured and executed. Renew its sound again and again for present and future generations.
Let it resound in the hearts, reminding us of the price of our lives and our country, independence and its loss. To never allow such a thing again, to keep peace, to live in harmony and understanding.
The fire of memory will never go out!
Ukraine remembers. The world recognizes.
