Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that overcoming of the Crisis is possible provided all the Institutes of Authority act jointly and cooperate with the Society

"Today Ukraine is in great need of a dialogue, restoration of confidence to the authorities, - stated V.Lytvyn on Monday, meeting James Steinberg, Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America. We should take joint actions for the sake of the country, the crisis lends an opportunity for the Ukrainian nation and politicians, it is the time for action".

V.Lytvyn stressed that bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the USA "was of special character", and expressed his hopes that the visit of J.Steinberg "will render a possibility to reflect upon the areas of further cooperation", especially at the level of parliaments.

In his turn, J.Steinberg stated that Ukraine and the USA were strategic partners and that "the depth of our common values is immeasurable, there is nothing to divide us".

The Deputy Secretary of State of the United States of America stressed that the stand of the President Barack Obama concerning response to the challenges of the global financial crisis presupposed the necessity "to trespass the boundaries of politics and jointly look for the way out".

J.Steinberg stressed the persistence of the position of the USA concerning guaranteeing Ukraine´s security, support of its independence, democratic reforms and Euro-Atlantic pursuits.

The Parties exchanged their opinions concerning further cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF. Thus, according to V.Lytvyn, Ukraine is in urgent need of cooperation with the IMF. However, Ukrainian government should take systemic and transparent measures to revive economy and financial sector.

The Parties also discussed reforming of energy sector. V Lytvyn believes that Ukraine needs its own energy policy. "Ukraine can be independent of foreign energy sources, because it has its own", - he stressed.
