During the visit to Germany, Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov commented on the decision of the Constitutional Court to declare unconstitutional certain provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Corruption” and criminal liability for false declarations.

According to him, anti-corruption reform is very important for the state. “The achievements made in recent years to make the anti-corruption system more open are small but important steps towards achieving the main goal of overcoming corruption in Ukraine,” the Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine said.

According to Dmytro Razumkov, pressure on any branch of government, including the judiciary, is unacceptable, so the reaction from the Parliament and the President of Ukraine will be quite quick. “"The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will address this issue at the legislative level and refine the mechanisms of work of anti-corruption bodies. No one can afford to destroy this important state,” he said.

The Speaker also noted that if the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is unable to conduct special inspections, it will be impossible to appoint heads of regional councils. “The decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine paralyzes the vertical of local self-government. And today, in the conditions of decentralization, this will lead to an imbalance of the power vertical”, Dmytro Razumkov added.
