On Monday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Stefan Gullgren, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine.
V.Lytvyn and S. Gullgren called for giving incentives to the parliamentary constituent of the bilateral relations and development of systemic cooperation at the level of parliaments, which, according to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, would secure "continuity of a dialogue at the level of governmental agencies and both nations".
The Parties discussed certain issues concerning further development of cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.
In his turn, the Ambassador stated that Sweden that will preside over the EU since the second half of 2009, was willing to develop relations with Ukraine in all sectors, especially, a trade-economic one.
According to S. Gullgren, the presidency of Sweden over the European Union will aim at the struggle with the consequences of financial and economic crisis, protection of the environment and climate, development of further cooperation with the EU neighbouring countries, especially within the scope of the Eastern Partnership.
Dwelling upon the overcoming of consequences of financial and economic crisis, the Parties agreed upon the necessity to hold both national and international dialogues.
