Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov stressed that the postponement of the local elections is currently impossible.
“Elections will take place under any circumstances on October 25, 2020, as planned, because all processes have already been launched,” he said.
The Chairperson of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that the only exception might be the Decree of the President of Ukraine on the imposition of a state of emergency or martial law following a decision of the National Security and Defense Council.
“The next step is that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approves or disapproves the proposal to postpone the elections. We hope there will be no grounds for this,” Dmytro Razumkov noted.
The Chairperson of the Parliament of Ukraine also noted that the Verkhovna Rada did everything to make the elections happen. “We will observe the elections and try to make them completely transparent and fair,” he stressed.
