Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov met with Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Ukraine Fan Xianrong. A number of important issues were discussed during the meeting, in particular, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation between the states.
The Speaker thanked the Ambassador for China's support of Ukraine during the coronavirus pandemic. “Today, the world is united in the fight against this threat, because we have not faced problems of this magnitude before. I am grateful to China for state and non-state humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the pandemic. And I am especially grateful for the comprehensive assistance in returning our citizens home,” noted Dmytro Razumkov.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also expressed gratitude for the unchanged position of the People's Republic of China and respect for the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. “China is well aware of what territorial integrity really means. This issue unites our countries,” the Speaker said.
Dmytro Razumkov also said that Ukraine is interested in deepening trade and economic cooperation between the countries. “Despite the Corona crisis and its consequences, trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and China has intensified, which indicates the prospects for further development of interstate relations,” said the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In addition, the parties discussed opportunities to resume intensive cooperation between the parliaments of both countries after overcoming the pandemic. The Chinese Ambassador noted that the conditions of the modern world dictate the need to unite countries and deepen interstate cooperation to overcome the various challenges of today.
