Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls for Comprehensive Development of a Political Dialogue with Canada, especially, at the Level of "People´s Democracy"
"Ukraine highly appreciates our bilateral relations, - stated V.Lytvyn, meeting Mikael Jean, Governor-General of Canada, on Thursday. We are interested in the development of a political dialogue and enhancement of our relations at the level of our communities".
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that "parliaments as "the voice of the nation" should act as key institutes of civil society".
V.Lytvyn expressed his hopes for the achievement of "a qualitatively new level" of Ukrainian-Canadian relations, including their parliamentary constituent. He also called for filling the bilateral relations with pragmatic contents.
According to M.Jean, Canada considers Ukraine to be "an important European partner" and stated that her country would always support further democratic reforms in Ukraine aimed at "prosperity of the nation and development of democracy".
The Parties deem necessary to extend cooperation in the economic and humanitarian fields, especially, at the levels of non-governmental and youth organizations. According to V.Lytvyn, "one should count on youth who will create the State".
