Mykola Tomenko: Any Alterations have to comply with the Political and Legal Traditions and must be endorsed by the Society
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, supposes that perfect amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine have to comply with the political and legal traditions and must be endorsed by the society.
Mykola Tomenko made the above-mentioned statement at the meeting with the students and the faculty of Kyiv M.Drahomanov Pedagogical University, presenting his book "Ukrainian Romanticist Mykola Hohol".
Appraising the political discussion concerning introduction of amendments to the Constitution and renewal of political elites, M.Tomenko stressed that "one can alter anything apart from traditions". Thus, at present two initiatives that fail to correspond to the political and legal traditions and citizens´ expectation are being discussed. M.Tomenko explained that such initiatives included indirect elections of the President and formation of a bicameral parliament.
