He noted: “Repair of ventilators is faster – it takes about one month, while buying a new one can take several months. Repairs cost about 4 thousand euros, while the new device can cost about 25 thousand euros. Another advantage is that doctors already know how to use these ventilators.” The initiative group found funding for the repair of all 94 non-functioning ventilators of the iVent 201 brand.
The initiative was sponsored by the Fund for Elimination of Consequences COVID-19 at the Office of the President of Ukraine, Naftogaz of Ukraine and others.
One of the co-authors of the initiative, MP Anna Purtova, in her speech thanked the doctors who are fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
“You were not afraid and went into battle, developed effective methods and ways to fight the coronavirus and gave us all the confidence that victory is possible. I want to thank all of you and assure that your needs will always be heard,” she said.
Andriy Kobolyev, Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, said that 49 ventilators, including those transferred to the hospitals, had been repaired at the company's expense. 6 city hospitals will receive repaired ventilators.
“This is a wonderful and bright initiative that MPs have found something that can be done very quickly, very effectively for the benefit of society,” he said.
With certificates for mechanical ventilation, hospital managers received thanks from MPs for their contribution to the fight against the pandemic.
