The Committee on State Building and Local Self-Government recommends that the Parliament adopts as a Basis the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Election of Deputies of The Verkhovna Rada of the Crimean Autonomous Republic, Local Councils and Village, Settlement and City Mayors" (re Election of Mayors by the Majority System of Absolute Majority)

03 April 2009, 12:49

The Bill (Reg. No.3051-1) suggests transition to the majority system of absolute majority for election of mayors in the cities with population over 75 thousand persons, and introduces regulations concerning repeated vote. The Bill also exempts regulation appertaining to the voting of electors who failed to uphold any of the candidates.

The Committee members also scrutinized the alternative Bill (Reg. No.3051) concerning a two-round election of mayors.

The Committee recommends that the Parliament adopts the Bill (Reg. No.3051-1) as a basis and take into account regulations of the Bill (Reg. No.3051).
