Committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
A week-work
rundown: May 4-8
Ukrainian MPs carry out their legislative work in
committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in compliance with the quarantine
requirements introduced to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease COVID-19.
To abide by law, all sittings of line committees are
conducted remotely through the agency of videoconference facilities such as: Microsoft
Teams, ZOOM, WebEx, Skype, etc. Remote access to electronic agenda-item
documents is also available for MPs through the electronic workflow system
SEDO, with the use of a Ukrainian MP mobile workplace.
Within the period from May 4 through 8, 2020 eighteen committees have
held their sittings, viz:
- Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy – 21 attendees;
- Committee on Anti-Corruption Policy – 18 attendees;
- Committee on Budget – 22 attendees;
- Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy – 15 attendees;
- Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management – 11 attendees;
- Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services – 19 attendees;
- Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance – (2 sittings,
(06.05.20) - 14 attendees);
- Committee on Foreign Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation –
13 attendees;
- Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into EU – 8 attendees;
- Committee on National Security, Defence and Intelligence - 17 attendees;
- Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily
Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Regions and Autonomous Republic of
Crimea, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations - 13 attendees;
- Committee on State Building, Local Governance, Regional and Urban
Development – 25 attendees;
- Committee on Legal Policy – 22 attendees;
- Committee on Law Enforcement – 23 attendees;
- Committee on Rules of Procedure, Parliamentary Ethics and Administration of
Verkhovna Rada’s Work - 10 attendees;
- Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights – 6 attendees;
- Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy – 23 attendees;
- Committee on Digital Transformation – 10 attendees.
Apart from committee members, the meetings in question were
attended by 29 invited persons, including representatives of government and
local authorities.
During these sittings, there have been reviewed some 151 items of
agenda, covering both alternative draft bills as well as those falling beyond
the committee’s line, still subject to its comments.
