“Wide and quality cooperation between diplomats, parliamentarians and government officials will help deepen cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia,” -- Dmytro Razumkov
During his official visit to the Republic of Latvia, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine met with the President of Latvia Egils Levits.
During the meeting, Dmytro Razumkov thanked the President for his willingness to support Ukraine in its fight for territorial integrity and sovereignty in the international arena.
"Where Ukraine cannot speak, then there Latvia does. Where one voice is unheard, several ones will be heard there. We do indeed feel the support of the Republic of Latvia at PACE, the United Nations and other international organizations, and this is very important for Ukraine,” the Chairman stressed.
Afterwards, Dmytro Razumkov emphasized that the problems with the Crimea and the Donbas are equally important for Ukrainian authorities. “There will certainly be different approaches to addressing these issues, but they are of equal priority to us,” he then said.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada also expressed his gratitude for supporting Ukraine's NATO membership in the future. "We cooperate for the benefit of not only Ukraine, but the whole of Europe, and do our best to maintain democratic principles," Dmytro Razumkov said.
In turn, the President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits expressed his hope that this visit would give a positive impetus to the relations between the states. In particular, he stressed the need to develop cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership milieu. Dmytro Razumkov observed that this area is important for Ukraine as well.
"I hope that deepened and widened communication of our diplomatic missions, parliamentarians and government officials will allow us to broaden cooperation between our countries," he announced at the end of his speech.
