Speaker Razumkov cordially meets new Canadian ambassador L.Galadza

“Favourable movement in relations with Canada will be maintained,” -- Dmytro Razumkov

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Razumkov, met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine, Larisa Galadza.

Dmytro Razumkov congratulated the ambassador on her new position and opportunity to work in Ukraine.

The speaker stressed the need to continue effective cooperation between the countries, and at the inter-parliamentary level in particular.  He valued highly the work of the Ukraine-Canada parliamentary friendship group and expressed his hope for further help in resolving the issues and challenges both of the states might face.

In addition, the Chairman Dmytro Razumkov thanked the Canadian side for its steadfast and principled position in the international arena on protecting Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and returning its temporarily occupied territories, as well as for providing assistance, including its military component.  He also expressed his hope for the continuation of joint military exercises.

Also, the speaker complimented the work of many years of the Canadian-Ukrainian parliamentary programme “CUPP”, which had been initiated by the Ukrainian diaspora in cooperation with the Parliament of Canada.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the tragedy in the sky that happened with the Ukrainian airplane in Iran.  Dmytro Razumkov expressed condolences to the families of victims of the plane wreck.

In her turn, Larisa Galadza noted the rapid and effective work of the Ukrainian parliament and stressed that relations aimed at bringing the two countries together would be kept on.

"We have sensed the changes and openness of Ukraine, and we do see that reforms are underway," she underscored and assured of the readiness to work out a cooperation programme with Ukraine.
