The Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and International Relations recommends that the Parliament forwards the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Refugees" (re Enhancement of the Procedure of granting a Refugee Status in Ukraine) for further Elaboration

10 March 2009, 12:23

The Bill (Reg. No.2325) introduces amendments to the effective Law that simplify the procedure of granting a refugee status in Ukraine and extend procedural rights of persons applying for the said status.

The Committee members introduced a number of remarks and motions concerning the Bill.

Thus, the Bill refers the persons "who are considered as family members due to national laws and customs of the country of origin" to the family members, which fails to comply with effective legislation, and can extend the range of persons liable to the groundless granting of a refugee status and the right for permanent residence in Ukraine.
