Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is sharply against the Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine "for the Political Moment and certain Political Purposes"

V. Lytvyn giving answers to the questions after his speech on Tuesday before the influential Danish Cooperation on Foreign Policy, Danish Ukrainian Cooperation and representatives of the Governmental circles expressed his thoughts in the framework of the theme: "Modern World Challenge-the Answer of Ukraine".

"Constitution should corresponds to the demands that the society faces and also should correspond to the traditions taking into account the best European experience", - he stressed.

V. Lytvyn declared that he is against conversion of Ukraine into Parliamentary Republic, "first of all because of the problems and tasks we are to solve, secondly taking into account that the present system do not correspond to the people´s demand". He explained that the elections of the Deputies by the closed lists of the party lead to the responsibility of the Deputy before the Leader of the Party and not before the electors.

V. Lytvyn stressed that the introduction of the amendments to the Constitution is possible but not in the present moment as "we can make our main Law worse".

"We should at least introduce the elections with the open lists. Under such system, the Parliament will be renewed for the 80% and it will be great achievement", - he emphasized.
