At present, it is possible to highly appreciate inter-parliamentary relations between Ukraine and Germany and consider their enhancement towards a new, quality level. Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expressed such an opinion on Friday, at the meeting with Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine.
Hans-Jurgen Heimsoeth noted that the Day of Ukraine was held last year in German Bundestag. He suggested that the current practice of training and exchange of experience between the representatives of the groups of friendship be further concluded.
The Parties discussed political and economic situation in Ukraine. The Ambassador stated that the Ukrainian Parliament had exceptional importance in the process of introducing amendments to the State Budget. The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stated that amendments to the Budget "should be introduced", but the document "should not become an instrument in the political rivalry".
In his turn, the Ambassador stated that "common responsibility under the current conditions in Ukraine should be of top priority", and "forces should be united and directed in one orientation". "If Ukraine understands the importance of common responsibility, the ways of overcoming the crisis will be found", - he stated.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine offered assistance and support of his country "where the Ukrainian Party deems it necessary". In particular, it concerned advisory assistance regarding introduction of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine invited the leaders of Bundestag to visit Ukraine.
