Sitting of Conciliation Commission

At the start of today’s sitting, D. Razumkov informed the audience that the last week sociological surveys conducted by one of the well-known sociological groups show the level of confidence to the Verkhovna Rada at 39% against the relevant 4% of the prior parliament. The tenfold jump has taken place in just a fortnight of the new Rada.
“One of the key tasks of ours is to restore confidence of the Ukrainian people to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” he stated.
In addition, he apprised the polls show that the people of Ukraine take the changes in the Verkhovna Rada’s work in quite a positive way. In particular, according to him, 92% of the polled citizens of Ukraine do support the reduction of Verkhovna Rada parliamentarians; 77% - granting the people the legislative initiative right; 95% - early termination of powers for absenteeism and ghost voting; 66% - introduction of a proportional election system. "So, it seems to me that we are all moving in the right direction, and this is confirmed by sociologists," Dmytro Razumkov asserted.
The past two weeks of plenary work had nine plenary sessions, with 110 legislative initiatives considered. In particular, there were adopted nine laws in tote and 44 bills on the first reading.
D. Razumkov thanked MPs for their good work.
"There are 39 issues scheduled for consideration during the ongoing week, including 24 bills needing to be prepared for their second reading, and two bills on ratification of international treaties," the Chairman added.
The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Olena Kondratiuk.
R. Stefanchuk, in particular, reminded that parliamentarians are going to work tomorrow in their committees, and that the committee work is to continue by Wednesday’s noon.
The first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine drew also attention to transition bills that had been passed on the first reading by the prior parliament, and asked to include them in the work plan of the committees.
The Chairman then reported that the draft law No.2000 "On the state budget of Ukraine for 2020" has just been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, the Minister of Finance Oksana Markarova will present the bill on Friday, September 20.
Afterwards, the Chairman of the Parliament gave the floor to chairmen of Verkhovna Rada committees.
Dmytro Razumkov hoped that the coming plenary week would be productive and effective.
At that point he closed today’s Conciliation Board meeting.
