The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Resolution "On Moratorium on the Eviction of Editorial Offices of Printed Mass Media, Institutions of Culture, Publishing Houses, Bookshops, Book Distributing Enterprises"

Pursuant to the Resolution, executive and local self-government bodies should temporarily, till a relevant Law is adopted, prevent groundless termination or break of lease agreements, suspend adoption of resolutions and terminate execution of previously adopted resolutions concerning eviction of editorial offices of printed mass media, institutions of culture, publishing houses, bookshops, book distributing enterprises from the premises in public and municipal ownership they occupied on legitimate grounds. According to the Resolution, leaseholders have a priority right to prolong the lease of the premises.  

 

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine should urgently elaborate a Bill on prohibition of eviction of editorial offices of printed mass media, institutions of culture, publishing houses, bookshops, book distributing enterprises from the premises in public and municipal ownership they lease.  

 

A relevant Bill was registered at The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by Reg. No.3716.
