The Committee on Public Health fails to uphold the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Protection of Customers' Rights"

19 January 2009, 10:16

The Bill (Reg. No.2714) brings the terminology of the effective Law in compliance with the Laws "On Safety and Quality of Food Production", "On Veterinary Medicine", "On Quarantine of Plants", "On Standards, Technical Norms and Procedures of Compliance Estimation" and the WTO Agreements "On Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures", "On Technical Barriers in Trade".

The Committee members expressed a number of remarks concerning the Bill. Thus, they stated that the effective Law was fundamental, and established general demands in the field of protection of customers´ rights concerning all the production: goods, labour and services. Therefore, the People´s Deputies deem unreasonable to bring the said Law in compliance with branch Laws that set requirements for certain types of production, including food production.
