Mykola Tomenko called on the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sport to stop holding "sports shows" at the expanse of budget funds.
"The Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sport seems to experience no impact of the global economic crisis. At the time, when funding of junior sports schools is suspended and implementation of key national sports programs is in jeopardy, the Ministry resolved to use budget funds to invite the sports community from all the regions of Ukraine for a discussion of 6 pages of general contents entitled "Strategy of Formation of a Modern Olympic Training System in Ukraine for the Period till 2020".
Thus, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on the idea of the Ministry of Ukraine for Family, Youth and Sport to hold the Second Sports Congress of Ukraine to which more than 400 representatives from all the regions of Ukraine were invited.
Mykola Tomenko deems necessary to think over the ways to rescue children sports, secure realization of budget programs under the conditions of socio-economic crisis, envisage due financing of Ukrainian Olympic contenders in the State Budget for the next year.
