The Committee on Foreign Affairs upholds the Bill on Ukraine's Accession to the Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification for Industrial Designs

The Bill (Reg. No. 0086) envisages Ukraine´s accession to the Agreement, which should facilitate international cooperation in the filed of protection of intellectual property rights, and coordination of national legislation with international legislation in the field of protection of rights for industrial designs.

 

The International Classification for Industrial Designs is "a unified means of classification of patent documents at the international level, and effective instrument to be employed by patent departments and applicants during the search for recognition of differential capacity of an industrial design".

 

According to the Committee members, Ukraine´s accession to the Agreement will secure full-fledged functioning of the State system of intellectual property protection at the level of advanced countries. The Agreement involves 49 States, including France, Finland, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Great Britain, Greece, Spain, Ireland, etc.
