Mykola Tomenko: the President´s Secretariat made holding of early parliamentary elections impossible.

Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, commented on the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections on 7 December.  He reminded that the President suspended his Decree on holding of early parliamentary elections and deemed unreasonable to hold the elections under the conditions of economic crisis in Ukraine.

In case the President returns to the idea of holding early elections, it will be necessary to hold consultations with the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Vice-Chairmen and leaders of Deputy Factions, in compliance with Article 90 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Thus, such consultations will be considered illegitimate, in case no chairman is elected. Therefore, another Decree of the President concerning early elections is possible only after a new Chairman of the Parliament is elected, and relevant consultations are held", - stated Mykola Tomenko.
