The Bill (Reg. No.3342) excludes Paragraph 5 from the Final Provisions of the Law "On Immediate Measures to be taken to prevent Negative Consequences of the Financial Crisis, and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine". Paragraph 5 envisages that "rates of minimum wage and living wage change due to the rate of inflation (consumer price index)".
However, on 31 October 2008, The Verkhovna Rada adopted the Bill "On Immediate Measures to be taken to prevent Negative Consequences of the Financial Crisis, and Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine" at the Second Reading and in its entirety.
O.Zarubinsky, author of the Bill, believes that "adoption of the Bill will restore social equity regarding major sections of Ukrainian population, whose welfare depends on the rate of minimum wage in the country".
The Committee members upheld the legislative initiative aimed at "preservation of the current procedure of living wage determination and establishment of a minimum wage".
