The Draft Resolution (Reg. No.3161) is aimed at coordination of regulations appertaining to the use of detergents at the territory of Ukraine with the European standards. The Draft Resolution recommends that the Cabinet of Ministers elaborates and brings forward the draft of the Program till 1 December 2009.

In the course of the discussion, the People´s Deputies stressed: more than 60 % of phosphorus contained by a phosphate-based detergent gets to the basins with waste waters, which contaminates water bodies and bears negative influence on public health.

The Committee members believe that "implementation of the National Program on Reduction and Gradual Suspension of Use of Phosphate-based Detergents at the Territory of Ukraine will reduce contamination of Ukrainian water bodies".
