Mykola Tomenko: Inter-Parliamentary cooperation with Azerbaijan is of great importance to Ukraine.
Today, Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mykola Tomenko met Oktay Sabir Asadov, Chairman of Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan.
The Chairman of Azerbaijani Parliament dwelled upon further cooperation with Ukraine and Ukrainian Parliament. Importance of the said issue is obvious, as the largest inter-parliamentary group that includes 22 deputies out of 125 representatives of Milli Mejlis is concerned with it.
In his turn, Mykola Tomenko commented on importance of such a form of cooperation between two countries as exchange of experience in the sports sector, especially after the Protocol on Cooperation Intention between the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan was signed.
Mykola Tomenko appreciated great progress of the Republic of Azerbaijan in construction of modern Olympic complexes and development of physical culture and mass sports in the country. Thus, 14 sports complexes have been constructed for the last four years in Azerbaijan, and 17 more complexes are under construction.
Mykola Tomenko also took part in the working group of observers of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Commonwealth of Independent States that operates during the elections of the President of Azerbaijan.
