Mykola Tomenko: The Third Session of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Sixth Convocation is the most efficient as regards the number of laws adopted.
Formal absence of a coalition in the parliament does not mean that the parliament is incapable, as without the coalition, the Parliament of the Sixth Convocation adopted almost as many laws as during two first sessions. Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine made the abovementioned statement at the press conference at UNIAN.
He provided the results of Parliament´s activity, which show that a tree-week Parliament´s work during the third session in "a non-coalition format" proved to be the most efficient. Thus, representatives of four and a half Factions of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a number of Laws that have already been signed by the President.
According to Mykola Tomenko, during the Third Session of the Parliament of the Sixth Convocation, the People´s Deputies adopted 185 resolutions of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 25 laws on ratifications, 36 laws of Ukraine in entirety, 23 laws at the First Reading. Three laws overrode the President´s veto. Out of the laws adopted, the President signed 41 laws, 21 of which appertain to ratification. The President is also to sign 16 more Bills.
Mykola Tomenko stated that efficient work of the Parliament should not be regarded as the grounds for its dissolution. Therefore, it is obvious that the dissolution of The Verkhovna Rada is actually accounted for by creation of favorable conditions for preparation of the presidential election campaign with the struggle of Viktor Yushchenko for the second term, and neutralization of opponents, especially Yulia Tymoshenko, by way of her possible resignation due to the consequences of early parliamentary campaign.
