“It is vital to bring well-known international partners in on administering Ukraine’s gas transportation system,” – Andriy Parubiy

This was stated at a briefing on Monday, when answering the journalists’ questions. The head of the parliament noted that during his official visit to the United States of America, he had had talks with the most powerful US energy companies about their participation in the management of the gas transportation system (GTS).

"I believe this is one of the key decisions concerning not only energy but the overall sphere of Ukraine’s security, because a joint GTS management will allow Ukraine to get very powerful and strong investments," he said.

A.Parubiy pointed out that this issue is very much related to the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline.  He expressed his conviction that "when powerful US energy companies will be Ukrainian partners in the management of the GTS, this will make our strategic partners even more consistent and even more rigid, disenabling any Putin's plans for the Ukrainian GTS".

"Solution of the issue will allow Ukraine to become more powerful in the realm of energy security, and in the overall safety against the Russian aggressor," said the Chairman of the Parliament.
