“Establishing the National Police is one of the most amplitudinous and most auspicious reforms in Ukraine,” -- Andriy Parubiy

Side by side with the top state officials, the Speaker took part on Wednesday in the third anniversary festivities of Ukraine’s police – the National Police of Ukraine.

Addressing the audience, the Parliament’s Chairman reminded there had been first policemen three years ago making their oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine nearby the St. Sophia’s Cathedral’s walls.

However, he stated, the history of the National Police is much older to have been formed during the stormy years of the Ukrainian war against the Russian invaders in the spring of 2014.

"When we say that the new Ukrainian National Police has demonstrated a completely different quality to the whole society, we are aware where it was born, how it tempered in the heat of the struggle for independence," said A.Parubiy.

"It goes without saying, that creation of the National Police is one of the largest, one of the most successful reforms in Ukraine," underscored the Speaker of the Parliament, "this was one of the reforms we dreamed of during the Revolution of Dignity".

A.Parubiy stressed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had done its utmost to assist the National Police in its gaining a foothold and enhancing at all stages.

The head of parliament thanked the police for their service, for their day to day risky work, noting that their "profession is one of the most responsible and one of the most dangerous".

A.Parubiy reminded that twenty four policemen had died while performing their duties and more than 1,200 had been injured during the last three years alone.

Eternal memory to the heroes-policemen - indwell us for ever!
