Mykola Tomenko: State support of adoption should not turn this noble affair into the type of earnings.

Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, emphasized the importance of adopted Bill on State support of families that adopted an orphan or a child deprived of parental care (Reg. No.1452).

He stated that the said Bill considerably improved the standards of State support of families that adopted children.

However, Mykola Tomenko deems necessary to revise the approach of experts who elaborate the Bills for the President, as the President´s initiatives tend to reduce to utmost social support of the procedure of adoption. However, they fail to envisage active support of children born in the families.

"The idea of adoption is based on voluntary decision of a family that is financially and morally ready to take a child in order to bring it up in the family. However, a great number of such initiatives with "financial impetus" can result not in normal upbringing of orphans in the families, but in a type of earnings in the procedure of adoption", - believes the Vice-Chairman.

He deems necessary to simplify the procedure of adoption and conduct work aimed at clarifying the importance of national adoption.
