EuroSatory: Who Are We?
COGES (Commissariat General des Expositions et Salons du GICAT) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French Land and Airland Defence and Security Industries Association GICAT – the French land and airland Defence and Security industry association. It is devoted to promoting French land and airland Defence and Security industries and their sectors worldwide. In this purpose, COGES creates targeted events both inside and outside France. It organises:
From Satory to Eurosatory: Satory of a unique adventure
Every year, equipment currently in use or under test were presented by the French “Section Technique de l’Armee de Terre” (STAT) on the military camp of Satory, close to Versailles (France). A presentation day was dedicated to foreign military attaches appointed in Paris.
The French Defence procurement agency (DGA) and the French company for armament equipment (SOFMA) initiated an exhibition with army equipment. They chose the military camp of Satory, close to Versailles. Satory I was from the outset a success and from this first edition, media echoed the exhibition, showing an interest that will increase edition after edition. During three days, the exhibition gathered around thirty manufacturers.
During 26 years, every two years, the successive Satory took place on the same place and improved its layout with each edition.
From the beginning of the nineties, Satory opened towards international markets. It also marked the end of the exhibition in the Satory camp in Versailles, which was now too small.
In 1991, the organisation of the exhibition was entrusted to GICAT, the French land and airland Defence and Security industry association.
In 1992, the exhibition moved to Le Bourget and became Eurosatory, “European exhibition for land Defence equipment”. COGES, a GICAT subsidiary, was created and designated as responsible of this event organisation.
In 1994, North-Americans exhibitors joined the show beside those from the Western European Union (UEO) and the European Free Trade Association (AELE) and confirmed the international dimension of Eurosatory.
In 2000, Eurosatory became the «land and air-land defence international exhibition”. Building on its success and in order to keep its quality requirements, Eurosatory moved to the Paris-Nord Villepinte Parc des Expositions in 2002.
So far dedicated to land and air-land equipment, on manufacturers request and due to the technology continuum between defence and security industries, Eurosatory became in 2008 the “Land and Air-land Defence and Security international exhibition”. Edition after edition, Eurosatory developed its know-how and confirmed its leading position.
In 2016, Eurosatory is designated as “the land and air-land solution”.
