The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Amendments to certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine regarding State Support of the Families that adopted an Orphan or a Child deprived of Parental Care"

23 September 2008, 11:57

Pursuant to the Law, the aid by adoption of a child can be granted to a person who is a Ukrainian citizen, permanently resides at its territory and adopted an orphan or a child deprived of parental care (if a married couple acts as an adopter, the aid is granted to one of the spouses at their discretion).

The aid is granted on the grounds of the resolution on child´s adoption. The aid is allocated, provided a relevant appeal was received after not later than 12 months since the resolution on child´s adoption came into force. In case two and more children are adopted, the aid is granted for each child and is allocated irregardless of other types of aid obtained for a child.

The aid by adoption of a child is granted in the amount established for the aid by first child´s birth. The terms and conditions for its payment and grounds for its termination are defined by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

A relevant Bill was registered at The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by Reg. No. 1452.
