"We highly appreciate the support to Ukraine rendered by the American Allies and hereby urge other countries to introduce sanctions against the companies involved in the North Stream 2 pipeline", --  Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy

Opening the morning session of the Parliament, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy reminded that two weeks ago the speakers of the five European parliaments: Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Latvia and Moldova had signed a joint letter of inadmissibility of the project, which threatens Ukraine's energy security.

A.Parubiy stressed that "it is very important that our voice was heard," and noted that today the representative of the US Department of State said that the companies involved in making the North Stream 2 gas pipeline could be subjected to sanctions.

"We believe that Nord Stream 2 undermines Europe's energy security and stability.  It will provide Russia with another means to put pressure on European countries, especially those like Ukraine”.

The Chairman of the Parliament of Ukraine emphasized that he "highly appreciates the support of Ukraine by the US Allies and urges other countries, especially the EU countries, to impose sanctions on the companies involved in the construction of this gas pipeline".

"The North Stream 2" is a Russian weapon in the war not only against Ukraine but also against all countries of the free world.  "North Stream 2" is a Putin’s instrument to make European countries dependent on Russia," he said, having added: "We look forward to the strategic wisdom of Europe and its leaders.  Stronger together we are!  Together we are independent!"
